THE WELL Series was originally formulated and launched in Nippon Paint Japan after extensive research into paints and their adverse effects on the environment. Nippon Paint Singapore introduced this series recently at the Eco Products International Fair 2006. Nippon Paint Singapore is the first paint manufacturer to be awarded the ISO14000 certification.

 The WELL Series is a COMPLETE range of decorative coatings, which is ultra-low in VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) and low in odour. VOCs are emitted from various components used in the manufacturing of paints such as formaldehyde, toluene, xylene, styrene, etc. The level of VOCs is much higher indoors compared to outdoors, mainly due to ventilation factors. Today, most people spend more than 50 per cent of their time indoors.

In order to effectively reduce the amount of VOCs in a painting system, the solution is to formulate a complete range of coatings, starting from the primer or sealer, right up to the finishing coat, which has almost zero VOCs. Not only are these products less harmful to humans, they are also healthier for the environment.

The Singapore Green Labelling Scheme stipulates that waterbased coatings must not be formulated using formaldehyde, halogenated, aromatic solvents, or heavy metals. Furthermore, water-based products do not contribute to toxic waste as no solvents are used.
