Installation of the 40 mm thick natural stone cladding was by Stone Cladding International, the variously sized panels being pre-cut and pre-slotted so that no site work was required on the stone. Plates welded to steelwork provided the structural fixing of the SUK system, which provided all the adjustment required to ensure panels were perfectly aligned.

RIGIDAL Industries manufacture an extensive range of aluminium and steel profiled cladding systems for use in a variety of roof, wall and lining applications. Rigidal Ziplok is designed for use in ‘zip-up’ standing seam roofing applications where the actual pitch is 1.5° or greater. Offering exceptional weather resistance and durability the product is suitable for both newbuild and refurbishment applications. Rigidal Ziplok is available in aluminium or steel in cover widths of 300, 400 and 500 mm. The side laps of the panel feature a zip-up standing seam detail, which hooks over a series of halters, to provide a continuous weather tight roof without any through fixings. The product can be manufactured on or off-site to almost any length, which virtually eliminates the need for end-laps. Some of the highlights of this product are: a secret fix that provides a continuous weathertight roof and a low pitch that can be used on pitches as low as 1.5°.

Sunday, 13 August 2006 00:00 - Cellular PVC Cladding

SWISH cellular PVC is an ideal substitute for timber cladding; in that it will not discolour with time, retains its appearance, is virtually maintenance free and is weather resistant.

In addition, cellular PVC cladding can significantly improve thermal performance of buildings, particularly when combined with insulation. This PVC is an extruded, foamed material with integral smooth and durable skin. The product can be cut, drilled, nailed and routed, using conventional tools. It is light to handle, easy to fix and does not require any painting and subsequent treatment after installation. This material also represents environmentally responsible use of plastics. It does not contain CFCs, lead or cadmium, which are considered harmful for environment. The density of Awish Cellular PVC is on an average 550kg/m3. Swish cladding profiles are sufficiently rigid to facilitate storage and erection, but are flexible enough to withstand normal site handling. The thermal insulation properties of Swish Cellular PVC, due to the foamed core, are superior to those of wood. Used in composite external wall constructions, they can significantly improve the U values obtained.
