Tuesday, 14 October 2008 16:59 - Rain impact damping for multi-storey car park roof

The resulting sound is a nuisance that causes discomfort for nearby residents as well. Designed to reduce the noise levels up to 15dB, Resonac serves as an audio damping compound.

This fast-drying water-based visco-elastic compound meets required low smoke and toxic fume emission standards. It is a thixotropic paste and so it does not exhibit unwanted ingredient separation. Furthermore, it is low in density yet effective at reducing resonant vibrations and increasing transmission loss on sheet-metal roof panels. Resonac is applied to the underside of the metal sheets, either by rolling-on or by spraying to reduce undesired rain-generated roof noise.

It is not necessary to place additional insulation layers beneath the roof to further absorb noise caused by the falling rain. Resonac D is used for a dark-grey finish on the underside of a roof system. It comes in off-white (known as Resonac M) as well. With a coating as thin as 0.5mm to 1mm thick, the roofing system is much lighter overall, which means there is no need for additional structural support.

Resonac will last as long as the metal roofing does. The product’s performance is optimal even should the roof expand. It is flame resistant-rated as a Class 1 to BS 476: Part 7: 1997 – on non-combustible surfaces. This long-lasting damping compound is environmentally friendly, and is UV-resistant and water- resistant.

Supaloc roof trusses are a strong and secure option for building projects. They utilize a patented tie down, which fixes through the top plate onto the vertical stud, claiming better performance. Constructed with BlueScope TrueCore G550 steel these trusses are accompanied by a 50 year structural warranty. These roof trusses come in several types, including the King Post Web Roof Truss, the Standard Roof Truss, the Cross Braced Truncated Roof Truss, the Vaulted Ceiling Roof truss, the Coffered Ceiling roof truss, the Skillion and the Room-in-the-Roof and Scissor Truss. Supaloc roof trusses can freespan up to 12 metres and when fixed to the wall frames, form an integrated one-piece structure.

The TM system used trusses created by joining pieces of steel tubing together with spherical steel nodes. The resulting framework is exceptionally strong and aesthetically pleasing, permitting a wide range of design choices for virtually any size building. The component-based TM Truss system facilitates assembly, and also permits disassembly and reassembly. All aspects of a project, from design through fabrication of our TM Truss system, are carefully controlled by an integrated computer system. This assures every completed structure will have maximum strength, durability and aesthetic qualities.
